Created using the same screen printing process as their vintage predecessors, today’s version of the Rock & Roll poster graphically captures the spirit of images popular in the 1960s and 1970s. Contemporary artists are reviving the intense, eye-popping art of the “gig poster.” Modern Rock & Roll posters are original works of art representing a kaleidoscope of artistic styles, and offering a visual representation of the band and its music.

Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft

March 06th - Saturday, May 16th, 2009
The best concert posters have always captured both the essence of the music they promoted and the spirit of the time in which they were produced. This is as true today as it was in San Francisco during the Sixties.
This exhibition provides the general public with an opportunity to see fine poster art and to meet some of the artists who created it. Because of the universal appeal of music and poster art, the exhibition will include not only the best of American artists but also include a selection of artists from around the world.
